Twin-motor model adds power and performance to electric SUV

Skoda has added an all-wheel-drive version to its Enyaq iV line-up, bringing more power and performance to the electric SUV.

The Enyaq iV 80x SportLine builds on the standard rear-wheel-drive 80 Sportline, adding a second motor to drive the front axle.

In twin-motor all-wheel-drive guise, the Enyaq now produces 261bhp and 313lb ft - up from 201bhp and 229lb ft in two-wheel-drive versions - and is capable of reaching 62mph from standstill in 6.9 seconds.

The battery in the 80x remains unchanged from the two-wheel-drive model and now offers an official range of 303 miles - down from 327. Official consumption is 3.5 miles per kWh and Skoda says that 125kW charging will allow owners to go from zero to 80 per cent charge in 38 minutes. A full charge from a domestic wallbox will take around 13 hours.

Like the rear-wheel-drive SportLine, the 80x features a sports chassis setup as standard, with a lower ride height than the rest of the range - 10mm at the rear, 15mm at the front - for a lower centre of gravity and more agile handling. Drive mode select is standard but adaptive dynamic chassis control for the suspension is an optional extra.

The all-wheel-drive model also follows the standard SportLine equipment, with full LED matrix adaptive headlights, a gloss black finish to exterior trim and exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin has a predominantly black finish with Alcantara/leather sports seats and black synthetic leather and carbon-effect finish to the dashboard.

The Enyaq 80x SportLine is available to order now, with first deliveries expected before the end of the year. Prices start at £46,610 on the road - £3,695 more than the two-wheel-drive 80 SportLine.
