Coronation Street: Fans believe they know who really kidnapped Lauren Bolton in forgotten storyline

Coronation Street fans believe they have worked out who is really behind Lauren Bolton’s disappearance. The teenager played by Cait Fitton, 22, has been missing for several weeks with Roy Cropper currently behind bars after being charged with her alleged murder. 

This week the ITV soap has shown Lauren in a series of flashbacks. Viewers now believe they have finally cracked the mystery of Lauren's disappearance and it could mean freedom for Roy. 

The café owner recently remembered a conversation between Lauren and Max Turner when they approached the café counter but he couldn’t recall why it seemed significant. Roy has since started to note down significant moments and he eventually remembers the conversation was Max grilling Lauren about her new boyfriend whilst she was holding a gold necklace.

Fans of the ITV soap now believe that it is Joel Deering who is behind Lauren’s disappearance after remembering a forgotten storyline from earlier this year. Joel's love interest Dee Dee Bailey found a receipt from an expensive jeweller which had fallen out of his wallet.  Joel claimed he had bought himself some cufflinks. 

Taking to social media platform X one fan wrote: “My guess is the jewellery receipt that Dee Dee found at Christmas will turn out to be Lauren’s necklace, well that’s what I think anyway.” Another added: “Joel!!! £300 on cufflinks? Nah mate, he bought her that necklace!”

Joel has lied in the past about his wife and daughter so is he also Lauren’s secret boyfriend and did he kidnap and murder her? We will have to wait and see. 

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
