Taylor Swift: are Haim on tour with singer after London gig, does she live in UK, who is boyfriend Joe Alwyn?

Concertgoers at Haim’s London O2 concert were in for a huge surprise when the group, made up of sisters Este, Danielle and Alana, brought out an extremely special surprise guest to sign off their last night in the UK - none other than Taylor Swift.

Swift’s appearance at the gig has left fans wondering what she was doing in the UK, with some beliving that she lives in England with her Conversations with Friends star boyfriend Joe Alwyn. Lately the couple have been fielding engagement rumours, although as it stands, neither party have commented on whether they’ll be tying the knot any time soon.

Did Taylor Swift join Haim at London O2?

The pop superstar made a surprise appearance during Haim’s London O2 performance, when Haim interrupted their hit tune Gasoline to bring her out on stage.

Alana told the crowd: “Wait, you guys. We’re in London, we can’t play London without bringing out a special guest.

“Because not only is this person that I’m about to bring out the most incredible singer, songwriter, producer, f**king amazing person all around, she’s one of our close friends.”

When Swift took to the stage, she told the audience that she hadn’t been on stage “in a very long time” - but said that “it’s nice” to be back.

She said: “Good evening London. You know I haven’t been on stage in a very long time. It’s nice, it’s nice, it’s very nice.

“But you know, I heard that my girls were playing in London at the O2, and I thought “I am going to have to see that”.

“And it looks like there’s about 20,000 other people that also think that.

“We had a thought that if we were to do some sort of mash-up we could possibly maybe get you to sing the loudest that you have sung all night.

“Which is a big challenge because you have been singing very loudly, it’s extraordinary work.”

Alongside Haim, the 32-year-old performed a mash-up of the American pop rock band’s anthem Gasoline with her 2008 song Love Story, from her second album Fearless.

Swift also went all out and matched the band wearing black leather trousers paired with a black crop top, sporting a full fringe with her hair in a plait.

At the end of her appearance, Swift hugged the band and said: “Ladies and gentleman, please take care of my best ones for the rest of the evening.

“Thank you for having me, good evening.”

Are they touring together?

Swift and Haim are no strangers to working together -  the group opened for Swift on her 1989 tour in 2015, and also appeared on her track No Body, No Crime on Swift’s 2020 album evermore.

Unfortunately for fans though, they are not touring together. Swift’s appearance at the London O2 Arena was a surprise guest performance to bring Haim’s UK leg of their One More Haim tour to an end before heading back to the states.

The tour itself was delayed from 2021, and saw the band perform gigs in the likes of Glasgow, Manchester, Nottingham and Cardiff.

Does Taylor Swift live in the UK?

Swift is dating English actor Joe Alwyn (Conversations with Friends, The Favourite) and in March 2021, it was reported that the pair were living together in a lavish £7 million pad close to Primrose Hill in England.

When Swift released her Lover album in 2019, it featured bonus content including journal entries that were dated from 3 January 2017 in which Swift wrote that she was “essentially based in London”.

The entry read: “I’m essentially based in London, hiding out trying to protect us from the nasty world that just wants to ruin things.

“We have been together and no-one has found out for three months now.

“I want it to stay that way because I don’t want anything about this to change.”

Lately the couple have been fielding engagement rumours, after a source reportedly told the Sun: “Taylor and Joe are incredibly happy, and very, very in love.

“They’ve actually been engaged for a few months but have only told their inner-inner circle — basically immediate family, and trusted, very old friends. Everyone has been sworn to secrecy, too.

“Taylor has a beautiful ring but she only wears it when she’s at home — i.e. behind closed doors. Again, only a handful of people know details about the wedding and Taylor hasn’t even told some of her team about the engagement.

“They want their love to stay away from the cameras as much as possible. This is just for them. And if and when they do exchange vows, there most definitely won’t be any Vogue, Rolling Stone or Hello! magazines there. It will be simple and elegant — like them.”

Swift and Alwyn have been together since 2016, but have remained largely private about their personal lives together - a deliberate choice Swift made following her previous relationships that were highly publicised.

While neither Swift or Alwyn have addressed the current engagement rumours, Alwyn told the Wall Street Journal in April earlier this year: “If I had a pound for every time I think I’ve been told I’ve been engaged, then I’d have a lot of pound coins.

“I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say.”
