The lawsuit filed by an anonymous individual marks the second time the allegation has attempted to reach legal proceedings

Trigger warning - this article contains descriptions of sexual assault

Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter responded earlier today to claims that he sexually assaulted a fan on a yacht and later on a bus in 2003. The allegations come after an anonymous party filed a lawsuit claiming Carter, then 23, had gotten the individual drunk and then proceeded to rape her twice - the individual at the time was 15 years old.

Though his attorney Dale Hayes Jr., Carter stated that the woman reported the claims to law enforcement back in 2003, however, authorities did not find significant evidence at the time to charge Carter. His attorney also claims that the woman is repeating these false allegations in this new legal complaint, but that the repetitive nature of the claim does not make them any more true.

Carter's lawyer has called the claim “predictable and pathetic” stating that Carter remains focused on holding his accusers accountable for the damage they've caused. Carter's legal team has filed counterclaims against some of his accusers, asserting that their actions amount to extortion and have caused harm to Carter's reputation and career.

It marks the third time that Carter has been accused of sexual assault; in December 2022, Shannon Ruth filed a lawsuit claiming the singer assaulted her on a tour bus when she was 17, while in April of this year, singer Melissa Schuman filed a lawsuit against Carter for sexual assault and battery over an alleged incident in 2002.

In that lawsuit, Schuman claimed that Carter forced her to perform and receive acts of oral sex when she was 18 and he was 22. Carter has denied all these accusations previously.
