Katie Piper will be making her much-anticipated return to television after being forced off air due to health complications.

The ITV presenter and Loose Women star has her own weekend breakfast show on the channel, broadcast on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. But following a negative reaction to an "unexpected medical procedure" Piper has been left unable to present her programme, with Charlotte Hawkins presenting in her absence.

As previously reported by NationalWorld, the presenter, 40, had gone into hospital for an eye operation. The former model has undergone hundreds of surgeries after an acid attack in 2008, which has left her with permanent scarring and other injuries.

Taking to social media, Piper has confirmed that she will be back on our TV screens for her show this weekend.

Posting on Instagram, she said: "Thank you for all your lovely messages wishing me well. I'm still on the mend but feeling so much better and will be back with a spring in my step next weekend.

"Thanks again to Charlotte Hawkins for holding the fort!"

At the time of publication, her post has received more than 1,300 likes, with well-wishes flooding in from fans and ITV co-stars alike. Ruth Langsford said: "Glad you're on the mend. Looking forward to seeing you back." Ranvir Singh added: "Sending you lots of love sweet girl!"

Last weekend, Piper posted two Father's Day messages - one for her father and another for her partner, Richie - sharing a family photo with her children's faces obscured.
