Don Omar: singer and rapper revealed he has cancer in emotional Instagram post to fans

Singer, songwriter and rapper Don Omar has revealed to fans that he is battling cancer.

In an emotional post on Instagram to his 11.7m followers, the Puerto Rican performer posted an image of him wearing a hospital band on his wrist, with the caption translated from Spanish: “Yes today but tomorrow I will be cancer free. Good intentions are well received. See you all soon.” In a follow-up post , he told fans that he was now “cancer-free”. He said: “I woke up today cancer free and grateful. Thank you for your good wishes, prayers and thousands of messages. My surgery was a success now to recover.”

Fans flooded his comments with best wishes. One said: “You're in our prayers and you're not alone don.” Another added: “Blessings in health and lots of healing energies!!!”

His cancer revelation came just hours after he was promoting his Back to Reggaetón Tour, sharing videos form dancer audition for the second leg of the tour. The second half of the tour is still set to visit various locations in the US including Florida, San Diego and New York despite his health issues.

The 20-date tour kicked off from Miami in March, with 19 more dates added after success onstage. It comes after Don Omar found success with his comeback album ‘Forever King’ in 2023.
