A fundraiser to help the family of a 14-year-old boy killed in a northeast London sword attack earlier this week has exceeded £100,000. Daniel Anjorin was killed in the Hainault attack, which also injured four other people, including two police officers.
The horror unfolded on Laing Close on Tuesday morning when a man armed with a sword went on a rampage. Neighbours said the attacker first spoke to a woman, asking her to confirm his location, before she saw the weapon and fled. She tried to warn the teenage victim but it was too late.

On Thursday (May 2), dual Spanish-Brazilian national Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, of Newham, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where he was charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary and possession of a bladed article, the Metropolitan Police said.
Roughly 6,000 people have donated to the fundraising appeal, which was set up by a close friend of the schoolboy’s brother, hours after the horrific attack on Tuesday.
The GoFundMe page described him as a “very loved boy in the local community who was always full of happiness and joy and very much loved by everybody he came across.” It added: “He meant so much to a lot of people and will be dearly missed.”
