Tarbat Road: Woman with facial injuries found dead at Leicester house as man arrested on suspicion of murder

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead at a house in Leceister. The woman, who has been named as Tarnjeet Riaz - also known by her maiden name Chagger - was found at an address in Thurnbry Lodge, Tarbat Road on bank holiday Monday (May 6).
Police were called to the address by the East Midlands Ambulance Service shortly before 1.30pm after it appeared that the 44-year-old woman had been assaulted. Officers attended the scene and a 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody.

Hide AdTarnjeet, from the High Wycombe area, had also sustained serious injuries to her face and chest, the police added. Detective Inspector Emma Matts, Senior Investigating Officer, said: “An incident which has occurred inside that address on the morning of Monday 6 May has sadly led to Tarnjeet’s death.
“A team of detectives are continuing to work to understand what has occurred and a cordon will remain in place while we thoroughly examine the scene. We currently have a man arrested in connection with Tarnjeet’s death and he continues to be interviewed by police. Family liaison officers have also been deployed and they are supporting the victim’s family at this extremely difficult and distressing time."
