Wednesday season 2 cast: Percy Hynes White responds after being axed as filming begins with Jenna Ortega

Percy Hynes White had starred alongside Jenna Ortega in the Netflix hit Wednesday.

The Wednesday season two cast line-up has dropped, with a notable face from the first series missing. Netflix shared the news on May 7, which will see 21-year-old Jenna Ortega reprise her role in the Adam’s Family spin-off, with filming for the new series already underway.

Percy Hynes White, who played one of the leads and Wednesday’s love interest Xavier Thorpe, was not included in the cast list, leading to speculation that he has been dropped from the series. The 22-year-old Canadian actor was accused of sexual assault allegations in January 2023 following his break-out role, denying them calling it a “campaign of misinformation”.

White has since taken to social media to give an update on his future in the Netflix series. Here’s everything you need to know about what Percy Hynes White has said about not being in Wednesday season two.

What has Percy Hynes White said?

The actor’s name did not feature in the trailer for Wednesday season two with many fans of the show taking this as a sign that he would not be returning to the series. White has now responded on Instagram to confirm he is not returning to the Netflix hit.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, White re-shared a photo of lead cast members from season two, which had been posted by Wednesday co-creator Alfred Gough. White wrote: “I had so much fun working on this show. I can't wait to watch season two. Much love.”

The news comes after the 22-year-old Canadian actor was accused of sexual assault allegations in January 2023, which have reportedly led to him being written out of the series. He had played a key role in season one, playing Xavier Thorpe, one of the two main male leads and romantic interest for Wednesday.

White denied the accusations, calling them a “campaign of misinformation”. In June 2023, he addressed them directly in a post on Instagram, which read: “Earlier this year, somebody I’ve never met started a campaign of misinformation about me online. Because of this, my family has been doxxed, and my friends have received death threats.

“Underage photos of me were used, and examples of me acting in character were presented as hateful. My friend Jane was falsely portrayed as a victim, and her attempts to set the record straight have been ignored. She gave me permission to include her in this message.”

White continued: “The rumours are false. I can’t accept the portrayal of me as someone bigoted, or criminally negligent of people’s safety. These are the kind of baseless, harmful claims that can create mistrust toward victims.

“It’s very distressing to know that this misinformation has upset people. I’m really thankful for everyone who’s stood by me and helped share the facts. Harassment of my family, friends and co-workers needs to stop please. Thank you for taking the time to read this.” Despite being dropped from Wednesday, White is set to star in the upcoming film Winter Spring Summer or Fall, which he starred in alongside Ortega and is due to come out in June 2024.
