Who is Olivia Rodrigo?

Olivia Rodrigo is a 19-year-old American singer-songwriter and actress. She was born in California on 20 February 2003.

Rodrigo made her acting debut in 2015, aged 12, as character Grace Thomas, the lead role in  direct-to-video film, An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success.

She went on to star as guitarist Paige Olvera in the Disney Channel series Bizaardvark, before being cast as Nini Salazar-Roberts on Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, in 2019.

For the show’s soundtrack Rodrigo wrote the song All I Want and also co-wrote  Just for a Moment with co-star Joshua Bassett.

She made her first move into music in 2021, releasing debut single ‘Drivers License’.

The song became one of the best-selling songs of the year, and propelled her to mainstream fame.

Her record-breaking debut studio album, Sour, followed later the same year, topping charts globally and receiving critical acclaim. It also earned Rodrigo seven Grammy nominations.

What is Driving Home 2 U about?

The 75-minute film, which has the full title of Driving Home 2 U (A Sour Film), documents Rodrigo’s recording of her debut album, Sour.

It begins when the singer is travelling from Salt Lake City - where she began writing the album -  to Los Angeles.

In the film, the Good 4 U singer also shares her memories of writing and creating the album and shares her feelings as a young woman experiencing fame.

Fans can look forward to seeing never-before-seen footage of the singer and hearing live arrangements of her songs during the film too.

Some of the behind-the-scenes footage featured was shot during recording sessions with producer Dan Nigro.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Rodrigo revealed that fans will be able to hear a new song during the end credits, so this is a much-watch for fans of the singer.

Who is Olivia Rodrigo dating?

As far as we know, Olivia Rodrigo is single.

Many fans believed that she dated her High School Musical: The Musical: The Series co-star Joshua Bassett, aged 21, from 2019.

The duo played a couple on-screen and many felt that their chemistry was a result of an off-screen relationship, although this was never confirmed.

Rumours began in 2020 that Bassett was dating another Disney Channel actress, 22-year-old Sabrina Carpenter. Again, this was never confirmed.

Many believed Rodrigo’s debut single ‘Drivers License’, which is about grieving over an ex who has moved on, is about Bassett. Rodrigo has never said if there is any truth to this.
