Loose Women: Stacey Solomon goes viral after clip dismissing Royal Family resurfaces following Queen’s death

Stacey Solomon’s opinions on the Royal Family have gone viral once again, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II died, aged 96, surrounded by the family at her beloved Balmoral Estate, on Thursday 8 September.

Since the news broke, tributes started pouring in and crowds of mourners gathered outside Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Balmoral - leaving flowers and paying their respects.

Following the news on Thursday, a video clip from a 2018 episode of Loose Women has resurfaced, which shows the panel discussing their views on the Royal Family.

In the clip, Stacey Solomon, 32, told the other panellists that she didn’t get the point in the royal family.

“I don’t get any of it,” she said.

The TV personality went on to question her co-panelists, Christine Lampard, Linda Robson, and Jane Moore, she pointed out: "I don’t get why we’re so obsessed with these humans that are exactly the same. It could be us four sitting there, I just don’t get it."

Journalist, Jane Moore, 60, seemed intrigued by Stacey’s views and asked: “Do you mean, like, as royals, or as like, Kim Kardashian? Because for me, they’re becoming like celebrities.”

To which Stacey responded: “To me that’s all they are.”

The panel were initially discussing how Meghan Markle could possibly modernise the monarchy, before the topic came up.

Actress Linda Robson, 64, then chipped in, by saying: “I love the Queen”

To which, Stacey asked. “But for what?”, “She’s always worked really hard”, said Robson.

Stacey responded: “But I would work really hard if the whole country paid for me to have like 12 houses, to work really hard.”

Then Jane quickly corrected her on this point, explaining how much UK citizens actually contribute to the system.

The clip has been circling again on social media, and many of her fans are leaping to her defence.

One fan tweeted: “It’s possible to feel deep sorrow at the passing of a staunch matriarch & still appreciate what Stacey Solomon is saying here.”

Whilst another wrote: “I won’t allow a bad word to be said about Stacey Solomon. She articulated a valid, widely held viewpoint”.

“It’s not malicious and more importantly, these comments were unearthed from 2018. They weren’t made in the aftermath of the Queen’s death.”

Many fans reacted to the video on social media, with many sharing varied opinions on the thoughts of the Loose Women panellists.

Loose Women is one of the handful of day-time shows that were taken off the air, when it was announced that the monarch’s health had declined, and she was under medical supervision.

Upon the news of Queen Elizabeth II’s demise, her son Charles, became King Charles III, while his wife, Camilla, became known as Queen Consort.

Prince William is now expected to become the Prince of Wales, after Charles’ coronation, next year.

The Queen’s funeral is set to take place at Westminster Abbey, on Monday 19 September, a day in which has also been declared a national bank holiday.
