British detective drama series Grantchester is now into its seventh season.

The first four seasons of the show followed Sidney Chambers, an Anglican vicar who moonlights as a detective.

From season five onwards, Chambers was replaced by Will Davenport, played by Tom Brittney, as the lead vicar/detective.

Season seven will start at the end of the 1950s, and while Davenport is busy marrying happy couples, Detective Inspector Geordie Keating investigates a string of murders.

Who stars in season seven of Grantchester?

Tom Brittney as Will Davenport

Tom Brittney will reprise his role as the renegade vicar Will Davenport for the seventh season of the show.

In earlier seasons, Davenport had resisted working with the police but now himself and Keating have become something of a crime-solving double act.

This season will see Davenport pulled in by Keating’s obsession with a series of murders which he is certain are connected.

The supposedly celibate man of the cloth will also be drawn to a character new to the village of Grantchester.

Brittney has previously starred as Ken in nine episodes of mystery miniseries The Five. He played Roger Lockwood in the final series of UnReal, a drama which looked behind the scenes at a dating competition show.

Other shows under his belt include Rocket Man, Northern Lights, City Lights, Waterloo Road, Wire in the Blood, and Mount Pleasant.
